I was so excited to share these pictures that I took of my good friend Shamime this past week in Santa Monica because I love them so much! I met Shamime during my junior year at UCLA through my roommate and we’ve been buds ever since. I haven’t seen her since last April, but we made up for all the lost time this past week shopping, talking cute men / not so cute men over vegan food, and just reminiscing on the past and discussing the new. I loved photographing her because she made it so easy with her exotic looks and that voluminous hair that has a life all of its own! Shamime is half Asian Indian and half African American; hence, the overall gorgeousness. She just beams from within! Shamime was always into photography back during university, and now with my blog and all, we both have another common interest to put on the list. Plus, she’s got amazing style that reflects her stunning personality, cultural background, and eclectic taste. She says I’ve always inspired her with my taste in clothes, but now she inspires me! I’ve been pushing her to start a fashion blog and now I think she is 🙂 She’s already got a food blog called Simply Shamime that you can check out. I miss you already Shamime, so please come back to LA soon, but this time stay for good 🙂 I will post the shots that Shamime took of me this day soon!
EDIT: Shamime just started a fashion blog, called Cloth Culture! Check it out here!

Sometimes all you need is a little sparkle and shine to get you through your day with flying colors. I was in a random sort of glitzy mood, but I didn’t want to dress up. This sequined and beaded jacket is one of those pieces that works it all on its own. Instantly, my simple jeans and casual tank felt party ready (even though I wasn’t actually going to a party). Indulging in an extravagant piece is the best way to add some twinkle to your work week. Here I am in another darker pair of SOLD Design Lab pull-on jeans (yes, you really just pull them on!). I can’t get through the week without them. And many of you have asked about my lipstick. It’s Laura Mercier in Garnet. Not sure this deep purple wine hue goes by that name any more, but Laura Mercier definitely still makes the color. And it is absolutely fabulous!
So happy the weekend is here! I have an exciting photo shoot in store. What are your plans?
This is one of those editorials that really took my breath away. Shot by Zoltan Tombor for Grazia Italy. Styling – a raw and easy mix of All-American, Ralph Lauren-esque outdoors-iness with an effortless European flair. Shot in Tuscany, a place with endless skies, miles of green around you on every side, and horses to ride upon and take you anywhere you please. It paints a portrait of the lustful thrill of being in nature and the freedom to explore it all. This is the epitome of autumn, and has me fast-forwarding to September. Even with spring just around the corner, nothing feels fresher than fall.
