From Workout to Night Out with Goody

October 5, 2016

Jumping back into the work week with a special look at my fitness to post-workout hair routine. Featuring none other than Goody hair products, which I’ve been using since I was just a kid. As a former dance teamer, Goody Ouchless Elastics were my everyday go-to. And since I love to be active today, they still are a high priority in my lifestyle. Yup, I’m a Goody Girl. I love that today the brand has extended its repertoire of products to include more fitness-focused products like the Athletique Headwraps.

I just recently started including the headwrap into my workout routine, and no longer am I worrying about loose hair getting into my face while I’m at the gym or on a run. A major relief.

And since I am usually on a time crunch, fitting in workout sessions in-between meetings or dinner dates, I have had to get creative with how I get from the gym to drinks without looking like a hot mess. This is where Goody comes into play. How I prep my hair before a workout is quite simple. To keep my fly-aways from frizzing up, I brush my hair all through with the Goody Clean Radiance Cushion Brush.

My hair looks super shiny because of the brush’s copper bristles and the shininess lasts all throughout my workout and far afterwards. My endless collection of Ouchless Elastics in an endless range of colors keeps my ponytail high on my head where I like it, and it never budges or pulls out my hair. I collect these like candy. The new glitter ones are my favorite. Here I am wearing the Athletique Reflective Headwrap in purple, secured with a few Colour Collection Bobby Pins. I love the bobby pins for side braids when I’m wanting to get fancy with my hairstyle. And now, there you are. . . my perfect ponytail for a run around the city.

An easy hairstyle that I like to go to in the evenings after a workout is a sexy, low bun, with a few loose hairs in the front to frame my face. Keeping a bun in place all throughout the night can be a royal pain, but I just discovered Goody’s Simple Styles Spin Pin. What a lifesaver. I center part my hair in the front and pull the rest of it together at the nape of my neck as if I am going to make a ponytail. But instead of tying my hair together in the back, I just twist it tightly and then twirl it into a bun at the nape of my neck. Instead of elastics or bobby pins to keep it in place, I just screw on Spin Pin into the top of the bun, and another one into the bottom of the bun. I then pull some hairs loose around my face. Voila! A pretty ballerina-inspired look that will be in tip top shape even after a few glasses of wine. My other favorite accessory? A super statement making pair of earrings. No one will ever have to know that I just rushed from a sweaty workout at all! It’s kind of like magic, no?

Check out the Goody website and find out what it takes to get your own #GoodyHairDay! It’s pretty much revolutionary when it comes to hair.

Thank you Goody for sponsoring this post. All opinions are my own.

The Multistick by Bite Beauty

September 2, 2016

There is something so refreshing about finding a makeup product that makes you feel so pretty with just a few seconds of swipes and that’s it. The Multistick by Bite Beauty is a celebration of minimalism and a natural, bared down approach to makeup. Feeling beautiful shouldn’t mean layers of foundation, heavy contouring, false eyelashes and all those other things big beauty brands promise to do to our faces to make them look more attractive. I mean, of course, concealer is my number one essential, but going beyond that and some mascara and maybe a little bit of blush . . . sometimes it feels all too much. And instead, it can cover up our natural glow. I love that The Multistick puts all three steps into one, in natural shades that come in a wide range for women of every skin tone. It’s a lipstick, a cheek stain and color for your eyelids. After trying some of the colors all over I was blown away at how much it brightened up my face and gave me that radiating glow. It did indeed make me look more youthful and fresh . . . funny to think that this can be achieved with less makeup and just one color. See, simplicity really is key.

Even the packaging of the product, so streamlined and chic, is an inspiration to follow suit in the process of the application. After a few weeks of sticking to The Multistick, plus a few swipes of mascara, some brow gel and maybe a little bit of concealer and illuminator, it felt like a nice change to look in the mirror and be able to see myself as I truly am. The face I was born with, not one that is contoured or over-shadowed or heavily lined along the edges into something it’s not (even thought that is fun to do every now and then, of course). Bite Beauty has just came up with the perfect way to achieve that sought after look to match a state of well rest. A well rest that is well deserved. The color I am wearing here is Macaroon, a slightly pinkish brown hue that I think brings out the gold in me eyes.

Come find your color . . . The Multistick is now available at Sephora.

New Summer Top 5 Essentials

July 22, 2016

Gypsea bikini

1. Beauty for Real for Aerie Sea Salt + Marine Water Styling Spray
always easy to use and always reliable for sexy, messy hair. i bring it with me to the beach and spray throughout the day, or in the morning on wet hair and let it air drive. easy peasy.

2. Mario Badescu Summer Shine Body Lotion
i never thought i’d be into super shimmery skin again since i was 10 years old, but this one is so subtle and makes me feel so smooth. it really makes all the difference on my bare legged days!

3. Murad InstaMatte Oil-Control Mask
my one major issue in the summer is oily skin, which in my case can lead to annoying breakouts when i want them the least! this mask takes care of it all by dissolving oil and preventing breakouts. it gives a nice tingle, too.

4. Bliss Fabulips sugar lip scrub
i thought i only had to worry about dry, flaky lips in the winter, but it happens in the summer, too. especially when you have a cute boy around that you always want to kiss. i noticed my lips being dry, and needed a quick resolution. this scrub is so fun to use with the battery-run lip exfoliating tool. it really takes the flake away and the end result is bee stung, soft lips.

5. L’Oreal Invisible Protect Clear Finish Spray 70
i swear that i cannot survive summer without this spray on SPF. i like to go for the big numbers for ultimate protection. but most of all, i love how easy it is to apply on all the hard to reach spots. and it doesn’t feel heavy or greasy at all. i even use it on my face. plus, it moisturizes, which is a given plus!

Dr. Dennis Gross Instant Radiance Sun Defense SPF 40

July 13, 2016

It’s summertime and that means a brand new beauty routine. Well, maybe not an entirely new makeover to my routine, but some smart tweaks here and there to complement the change in the weather. The new major player on my beauty counter is Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare Instant Radiance Sun Defense Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 40. Now girls, believe me when I say that this product really kicks ass. It covers all grounds when it comes to my skincare coverage and protection. Blows all other day moisturizers out of the water!

Dr. Dennis Gross Instant Radiance Sun Defense SPF 40 is now part of my daily routine. It goes on right after washing my face and right before applying my makeup. It’s a tinted moisturizer, illuminator, and sunscreen all in one, so it helps me get ready effortlessly in the morning. Just maybe a little dab of concealer afterwards, some blush, brows, mascara and I’m good to go. It definitely has cut my morning makeup routine in half. Hallelujah!

My main goal with makeup, and especially so in the summer month, is to achieve that endless summer sort of skin that looks dewy and glowing, and feels absolutely well-rested. When my skin looks sun-kissed, evenly toned and a little bit luminescent, I feel like my most confident self. I love the idea of a “Glotion,” which is exactly what this product is, because it takes care of all my beauty and skincare needs all in one. It illuminates, moisturizes, evens out skin tone and provides protection from the sun all in one layer. This product is basically a dream in a bottle for me. And depending on the amount of coverage you need, it can be layered for the desired effect (but will never look cakey because it’s extra moisturizing).

Okay, so you guys totally get the fact that it has super powers in the hydrating department (that really work). And it’s a sunscreen, which is so great for someone like me who sometimes forgets the very important step of applying sunscreen right after my moisturizer. This product makes sure I never forget that step because SPF is built right in, and a good amount of it! But what stands out to me the most is the illuminating factor of the moisturizer. I love, love, love a good glow that subtly reflects light. The extra radiance that this moisturizer provides is ace. It’s like walking around with a person following you around holding a beauty light in front of your face all day, but without the hassle of the actual beauty light. hehe. It’s color correcting in an instant just by its illuminating factors, but also has pigment adaption technology that blends to match most skin tones.

Now that’s a science that speaks to me, Dr. Dennis Gross Instant Radiance Sun Defense SPF 40 is available at Sephora, and I’m telling all you babes that it works like a charm, and is nearly life-changing, and that one must use it to keep on looking like a babe all summer long (although it does also work in spring, fall and winter, as well). Because who doesn’t want that glow all year long, yo?
