Talk With Your Lips

January 20, 2016

When it comes to lipstick, I am very particular. The exact shade. The way it glides on. The stickiness of it. Do I need to moisturize beforehand? How often do I have to reapply? I’ve been wearing the same go-to red lip color for the past year, but I thought it was about time that I see what else is out there to keep my options open for different sorts of situations. Marc Jacobs Le Marc Lip Creme (SHOP HERE) just fell into my hands one day. And I wanted to see what Marc’s beauty was all about anyways. This creamy red (called 202-Goddess) was the first red I tried on from his collection, and it was an instantaneous match made in heaven. It was more poppy and bright than my normal reds, especially in the light. But in the shade, it seemed more rusty, which I liked. The best of both worlds ๐Ÿ™‚ Lipstick with multiple undertones thatย work in your favor are keepers. So now, say hello to my new red color for this winter season. Look who’s talking now. Smooch smooch. Love you all ๐Ÿ™‚

The Evolution of Smooth Holiday 2015

December 7, 2015

Dry, chapped lips during the winter season seems totally unavoidable, especially in NYC’s bitter cold. But it can be easily avoided. I keep my reliable EOS lip balm in my purse in the pursuit of lush, moisturized lips on the daily. The EOS balm is so simple and gets right to the issue. 100% natural. 95% organic. Rich in Shea Butter and Vitamin E. You really feel your lips protected after just one application. On top of being a reliable source of nourishment and love for my lips, I love how fun they make things with their packaging and presentation each season. For the holidays, EOS is letting you do the decorating, and the result is dazzling! I think it’s the little kid in me that still gets a kick out of the sparkly stuff. Each EOS Holiday 2015 Limited Edition Decorative Lip Balm Collection comes with lovely little jewel art stickers that can be applied to the outside of your EOS lip balm in any way you please. Who doesn’t love personalization? Such a fun stocking stuffer for friends and the kids in the family during the holidays, too! Now tell me, who are you going to kiss under the mistletoe this year? Cheesy, I know, but I just had to say it.

My New Beauty Essentials

December 2, 2015
The beauty department is a tough one because there are so many options out there! Walking into Sephora for me is nearing an experience similar to something like a heart attack. Obviously, I’m far more a fashion blogger than a beauty blogger. I love makeup though, don’t get me wrong. I just prefer to keep things simple. And when I find a product that really works for me, I hold onto it for dear life. Until the day it stops being produced. Of course, sometimes a few new ones slip into the mix. I always remind myself that new is a good thing because routine needs a little freshening up every now and then. That’s just life in general ๐Ÿ™‚
This brand is straight up all about pure simplicity, and that’s why I love it. It’s a new brand to me, and introduced by a friend, and I’m totally on board. This face stick is so easy for throwing into your bag and using for quick touch ups on the go. It goes on sheer but still has just the right amount of coverage that you don’t need to worry about having to use an extra layer of concealer. Au natural.
Glossier Boy Brow // SHOP HERE

There was so much hype about this one on social media that I just had to give it a try! Especially since my eyebrows is the number one thing I focus on when putting my makeup on in the morning. Let me tell you, this little baby is a magical dream boat for those obsessed with their eyebrows like me. I have yet to find a product that gives me that full texture and added depth to my brows like Boy Brow I seriously can’t go a day without it.
Glossier Soothing Face Mist // SHOP HERE

Back to back meetings, shooting on the street in crazy weather or editing in front of a computer screen all day can be harsh on one’s skin. I never usually rely on a face mist to perk up my glow during the day, but after trying just a spray of this one by Glossier I was hooked. What a difference it makes when you can cool down your face, close your eyes and smell some rose water that smells homemade. It’s an uplifter for sure!
Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Eyeliner // SHOP HERE

I’ve been going less harsh on the eyeliner this season, and skipping out on my usual black for something more off beat. This amber liner is an unexpected alternative that really stands out despite it’s softer tone. It’s just enough color to highlight my eye shape and bring out the golds in my eye color. I like to think that it hits the light in a refreshing new way. Whatever it is that is happening, I’m all for it with this one. Maybe next time I’ll be in a purple or green eyeliner phase!

Hair | Date Night Waves

October 6, 2015
One of the biggest stresses when it comes to dating (on top of the nervous butterflies and hoping your date will be a good conversationalist) is what the heck I’m supposed to be doing with my hair! I’m pretty low maintenance when it comes to my beauty and hair routine. The more natural, the better to me. But sometimes, taking just a few extra steps can make all the difference, livening things up tenfold so, so easily. I started using the XO Styling Iron, created by fellow blogger Cara McLeay of A Fashion Love Affair. I’m very particular about the hot tools I use on my hair to make sure I’m not allowing any damage while still getting the desired effects. I’ve been using the XO Styling Iron ever since I first tried it. I’m basically hooked because the results have been so spot on. Using the XO Styling Iron has taken me the least amount of time to do my hair ever! Which is great for me, because I don’t like to spend a lot of time on these sort of things! And I prefer to use a straightening iron to add waves, because it gives me a less intense curl and I can always assure that I won’t end up looking like Shirley Temple. If it’s too curly, just a swipe of the straightener tames it down. So I can easily go both ways. On date nights, I tend to to make the wave a little more extreme than normal. As the night goes on, it will effortlessly get more subtle.
I basically start work with the hair around my face first, then start creating waves in chunks from one side to the other side. I start the wave with the iron at a little above the middle point of my head, twisting the hair around the iron with the iron horizontal, and then slowly work my way down. I break up the waves throughout to give them that messy, worn-in texture. Then I put in more beach spray and add in more tousling once I’ve gotten through all my hair, and I’m good to go for the night! Super easy! Thanks Cara for creating the perfect styling iron. It’s truly been a life saver ๐Ÿ™‚
