Beauty | Physicians Formula Argan Wear

May 27, 2015

Apparently, my week in Puerto Rico a while back still wasn’t enough to get me to that golden bronze color every girl dies for in the summertime. I’ve never been on to be okay with using a tanning salon, so I’m always looking for the next big thing to help me achieve that glow in the most natural route possible (without killing my skin with UV rays or looking like a carrot). Physicians Formula‘s line of 100% Pure Argan Oil (“liquid gold”) products has come out as the winner for me in this beauty arena.

I’m head-over-heels over the multi-usability of the brand’s Argan Wear Ultra-Nourishing Argan Oil. I’ve been starting my days and ending my nights off with this weightless miracle oil that has without a doubt improved the brightness, tone, texture, and elasticity of my skin pretty dramatically in just the short amount of time that I have been using it. Just a drop or two goes a long way on my skin. A gentle rub on my face is all it needs to effortlessly absorb, working as a moisturizer, primer and protector all at once. The dewy look it gives the skin on my face is a plus, as well. And I never feel or look greasy. I’ve been using it on the ends of my hair on the daily, as well. I just wet my hair lightly with a spray bottle, drop some oil into the palms of my hands, and rub it into the ends of my hair and then let it air dry. It softens and adds that lusted-after shine.

Now, onto achieving that glow that I was speaking of before. Physicians Formula Argan Wear Ultra-Nourishing Argan Oil Bronzer has been my go-to when it comes to getting that touch of bronze on my face. It’s infused with 100% Pure Argan Oil and has a touch of shimmer to add to that sunlit, dewy look. It’s as if you just came back from a trip to Morocco (something that I’ve been thinking about quite a lot actually!). The color is easy to control, coming out pretty subtly in the beginning, but can be layered on and on for a more dramatic bronze color. I was pretty pasty before my Key West, Florida trip this past Memorial Day weekend, so this bronzer was an ultimate lifesaver for my pale self!

So now, what do you guys think about my new faux glow look that looks anything but faux?

Beauty Files | The Amplified Lash

L’Oreal Voluminous Miss Manga Mascara // SHOP HERE
___
Recently I’ve been skipping the liquid liner for a simple shadowed eye flavored up with a more intense lash. I’m talking about thick and long mod lashes. Twiggy status. I haven’t been more excited about a mascara before. L’Oreal’s Miss Manga mascara is the bomb diggity bomb. The lash brush actually flexes, that way it gives more coverage to each lash, creating an amplified look. Who uses false lashes anyways? This is so much easier and less time consuming. My friends always joke that my selfless are sometimes somewhat verging Kawaii status, so this mascara is totally fitting to my alter ego. Give it a go, and you’ll see what I mean.

Beauty Files | Sunday Riley

January 26, 2015
I’m a huge fan of discovering and testing out new products that can shake up my skincare routine in a progressive way. One of my latest and brightest finds in this department is the luxury skincare brand Sunday Riley. I have been regularly using their Effortless Breathable Tinted Primer for two weeks and already my skin has seen a positive difference. It’s almost as if my skin can actually breathe more! This super sheer primer feels extremely lightweight, with just the tiniest splash of color that still seems to cover up any extra redness I have. I slasher a light layer of it over my daily moisturizer and then just finish off with some concealer for a simple weekend face. This might seem a little too bare for most, but I always believe that the most important part of feeling good about the way you look starts with the foundation of your skin. Once you have that, everything else is just extra. Maybe just a quick curl of the lashes and a filled-in brow, that’s it.
A bonus of this tinted primer is that it is fortified with Rejuvenox, an antioxidant complex that helps oxegenize and plump up the skin by reducing and neutralizing the amount of free radicals that cause damage and aging. Hey, I’m all for that! I love science!
Check out some of the other Sunday Riley products that I have been using lately, as well 🙂

Beauty Files | That Smokey Eye

January 15, 2015
Guess what guys?? 2015 is going to bringing on a whole new lot of beauty content on the blog. Get ready to get puuuurtyyyyy. Basically flaunt what you got, just accentuate it! Excited to start sharing some easy girl-on-the-go makeup looks that you don’t have to be a makeup pro to do yourself. Because trust me, if I can do it, you can, too. Let’s start the year off with something subtle yet smokey. I’ve always admired the Hollywood actresses who rock the red carpet with a sexy yet perfect swipe of charcoal across their lids. Sadly, I’ve never before been able to recreate the look in quite the same way myself. I always just ended up looking messy, undone and a little bruised. AKA not cute. So I veered away from doing up the eyes too dark, even on nights when I’ve wanted to feel a little sexier than usual.
So here is my latest attempt, and I think I’ve finally found the key to smokey eye happiness! Thank’s to L’Oreal’s Infallible Smokissime powder eyeliner. The sponge dip applicator makes it super easy. I use the tip of the point applicator to add a darker swipe of black along my lash line. Then I use the side of the applicator (which acts like a smudger) to gently blend the color upwards towards the outer points of my eyes. You can use your finger, as well, if you want to be even more careful and to have more control over the intensity of the smokey look. And the color didn’t move at all throughout the day thanks to some Smashbox primer on my lids (helps keep the level of grease down).
A swipe of super sheer nude gloss, full brows and a natural glow on the cheeks with a baked blush is all I need to finish off the look.
!function(doc,s,id){ var e, p; if(!doc.getElementById(id)) { e = doc.createElement(s); e.id = id; p = ‘//shopsensewidget.shopstyle.com/widget-script.js’; var cb = new Date().getTime(); p += ‘?cb=’ + cb; e.src = p; doc.body.appendChild(e); } if(typeof window.ss_shopsense === ‘object’){ if(doc.readyState === ‘complete’){ window.ss_shopsense.init(); } } }(document, ‘script’, ‘shopsensewidget-script’);
And there you go! A subtly intense smokey eye that translates well for both day and night, depending on the lip you go for! Stay tuned for the next issue of Beauty Files!
