Obviously you guys all know her blog, Natalie Off Duty. Like who doesn’t? She’s a babe x 1,000 and has a personality to match. I thought that today would be the most spectacular time to debut this photo shoot session with the sweetheart photographer Emma Kepley. Shot around our favorite graffiti and art spots around the Lower East Side, Natalie and I felt totally in our element. These spots were our favorite spots to check out when we both first moved to the east coast. The city is a lot like both of our styles:  a mix of grungy with feminine and classic. We always like to take our own spin on things. In this shoot I am wearing a Free People top, Forever 21 skirt, vintage printed blouse, Natalie & Dylana Suarez x Modern Vice vintage Jett boots, Rag & Bone hat.
Natalie thank you so much for being my best friend since day one. I always laugh and cry over the memories we’ve shared together. The time we got chased by that dog and jumped over the fence. The time we babysat our family friend’s toddler and he accidentally ran straight through the screen door when we chased him. The times we used to play “Mission Impossible” and spy on the neighbors. The times we used to pretend we were ice skaters in our garage but really we were just wearing big old clunky roller blades and were super awkward. That time I choreographed your talent competition dance to “It’s A Hard Knock Life” in the 3rd grade and you put on the best show. I’ll never remember those days when I had to pick you up from school, so we could walk home together everyday, and each time we’d encounter a random adventure to make us late for dinner. Thanks so much Natalie for always having my back. Can’t believe you are all grown up!
I love you so much and I hope you have the most amazing 23rd year ever! And thank you so much Emma for the beautiful pictures 🙂

Vintage patterned blouse from Fox & Fawn, Free People tee, Paige jeans, Natalie & Dylana Suarez x Modern Vice Chloe boots, Vintage hat, Vanessa Mooney necklace

Been such a denim girl lately. Being a little over 5’11” makes finding the perfect pair of jeans not the easiest of tasks, but thank goodness so many brands are coming out with so many great fits for us longer stemmed ones. The peek of ankle, length of the rise and stretch around the hip area are just a few of the things that I take into heavy consideration when I try on a new pair of jeans. At work, I’m either sitting for long periods of times or running all over the place. My jeans need to move with me! The comfortably placed rip at the knee on this Paige pair is made for a long day of rough and tumble excursions around the city. Literally kicking the leaves into the air and just embracing the day. This past week, mixed with all of the Halloween madness, was one of the longest and stressful. Prepping for photo shoots on top of my everyday to-do lists take a lot out of a girl! I haven’t been having time to throw on anything more than a pair of jeans and a top before rushing out to catch the subway into Manhattan. Thank goodness I have a lot of really rad denim options to get through my day with. They have been saving my life. The weekend is here and I am taking it all in and ready to check out some new parts of the city. Hell yeah.

Don’t Mess With Me With This Hat On

H&M leather jacket and fisherman’s hat, Paige plaid shirt, Gypsy Warrior dress, Natalie & Dylana Suarez x Modern Vice Chloe boots

Missing those days dearly where I could bundle up on top, but keep things a bit more bare on the bottom. NYC is legit in winter mode right now, and I just realized that I no longer have black tights without holes and runs in them! Now, let’s discuss hats. I’ve always stuck to the basic wide brimmed wool hat and the classic beanie in the winter, but I’ve always wanted to experiment with other styles. I saw the fisherman hat popping up a lot on the European blogs a few months ago, and I couldn’t help but try it out for myself with this budget friendly one from H&M. I think the fisherman hat almost beats out the wide brimmed Zorro hat on the face flattering factor. It’s unexpected for sure, and I definitely still get stares on the streets when I wear this one out, but I am delighted with it. It’s a new staple in my wardrobe this season.

I’m back on a Lana Del Rey kick. And it might or might not be because of the fact that I spotted her shopping in Sephora this past weekend. I was like OMG it’s Lana and I instantly started singing Young And Beautiful in my head all day afterwards. I am such a dork. Oh well. Gotta love me some Lana Del Rey every now and then.
