A Peek Inside Our Home on “How I Met Your Style”

March 16, 2011

I am so excited to share with you all these beautiful pictures of my sister Natalie and I taken in our home last month. The photographer (and now friend) is the super talented and all-around amazing person Carmen Chan. This girl blows me away! Carmen shot these portraits for the newly launched website How I Met Your Style that she started with her friend Ken Wu. It is here where they showcase “intimate portraits of your favorite style inspirations.” My sister and I feel so lucky and honored to be one of the first to be shot for the website. We are so happy to have these wonderful pictures together. They are so special. I am so sad that Carmen is going to Hong Kong next month because I want to work with her more! It was such a blast getting to know this girl and her special talent behind the lens 🙂 Make sure to check out How I Met Your Style to see a few more pictures that I didn’t post here. I cannot wait to see how this project grows and grows.

Sweater – We Are Rubbish, Skirt – Forever 21, Belt – random, Shoes – ModCloth, Purse – Hobo International
I’ve been very attracted to the color mustard yellow lately, so this knitted sweater is just the thing for me right now. I’ve basically been wearing it with everything in my closet. But my most favorite ensemble with this sweater involves my new leopard printed skirt (a.k.a. the new apples of my eye). The color mustard is so darn versatile. I’m surprised most people don’t wear this color more often! And I love my little patent leather clutch purse from Hobo International. The leather is superb and the shape is so classic and compact and chic. It goes with everything in my closet. Sometimes it’s nice to run out the door with the absolute bare essentials and without a strap hanging heavily on my shoulder.

Sweater – We Are Rubbish, Shorts and Hat – Volcom

This past weekend felt like summer. I hiked . . . I lounged outside . . . I pranced around in itsy bitsy shorts, and it was . . . well, wonderful! Finally the days are longer so I can enjoy them that much more! Oh, and I have been wearing this little sweater like crazy lately, so you can expect it to make another appearance on here soon.

Another exciting thing that’s in store for you guys is the launch of Volcomunity, the blog for the Volcom Girls brand. It launches on Monday, March 21! The Volcom team and I have been working very hard to get this project up and running for the past 2.5 months, and from what I have seen and helped put together so far, it is going to be amazing! We have such great content to share with you guys, from fashion to music, as well as some amazing guest bloggers who we got on board. So ladies, make sure to save this date and visit us over at Volcomunity!

Michael Kors SS 2011

March 13, 2011
I have been so busy these past few weeks with work, life, and just trying to update the blog with outfit posts that I never really had the chance to catch up on any shows from the recent fashion weeks, other than Rodarte (which was fabulous, I must say). Tsk tsk on me. So for now, rather than looking forward to what collections from the upcoming FW 2011 I’m craving the most, I’m going to stay in the present moment and focus on spring. Above are 5 looks from Michael Kor’s SS 2011 show and they are my absolute favorites! I’ve always been a very casual/laidback/always has to be super comfortable kind of girl, and this collection (and these pieces in particular) are right up my alley. I would wear them all in a heartbeat! Classic, timeless, and even a little bit boyish and slouchy in nature. I love the contradiction of neutrals played up with bright bursts of colors and quirky tints of metallic, and Kors did this so well in this collection. Essentials with a playful edge. All I can say is that am crazy for Kors. It’s Americana effortlessness at its best, and it’s everything I want to be wearing this spring.
