All Woven Up

November 15, 2010

Sweater – MINKPINK from Tilly Boutique, Maxi Skirt – H&M, Tank – Free People, Boots – Cole Haan, Purse – Melie Bianco, Headband – Forever 21

I like how I kind of feel like a modern day princess or real life fairy in this rhinestone headband. I don’t usually wear too many things that sparkle under the sun, but I was drawn to this one for no particular reason other than the sign it held up yelling at me, “I’m pretty and shiny, so buy me now!” It does a wonderful job of softening the utilitarian nature of my black as night maxi skirt and stomp-the-ground combats. I like to wear different things that balance each other out; things that pull in two separate directions but bounce right back to middle ground in the end. That’s just me. I am wearing my new MINKPINK Basket Case Jumper from Tilly Boutique which I have been wearing for days on end. I can’t get enough of it. It shows off a more eclectic side of our everyday basics. The woven design is definitely not something you usually see on a simple sweatshirt. That’s why I love it.

Oh, and the winner of the Shop Dixi giveaway is Vivian from Diamonds and Tulle! Congrats Vivian!!!!

xoxo

Oh So Pretty

November 13, 2010
Somethings just don’t need a reason for existence other than for the pleasure of our eyes.

Have a beautiful weekend 🙂

A Little Bit More Mustard, Please

November 11, 2010

Wool Blazer – vintage, Lace Tank – Forever 21, Jeans – J Brand, Purse – Melie Bianco, Silk Scarf – vintage, Shoes – from Crossroads
Usually the color yellow makes me feel nauseous, but give me a shot of deep mustard and it’s as if yellow has been my BFF the whole time. I think I started going gaga for mustard yellow ever since I spotted Kirsten Dunst in her mustard over the knee socks a few years ago. Too freaking cool. There is just something so retro about mustard yellow. I don’t know what it is, but it reminds me of the 70’s. The seventies totally rocked. As if the mustard yellow wasn’t enough, I just had to add an extra blast of color with my red Melie Bianco purse decorated with a vintage silk scarf I found lying around. Oh, yes, the jeans. And the holes. Let’s just say these are really old and yes I have worn them A LOT. The holes definitely make the jeans.
And Happy Veterans Day! May we all look forward to peace and prosperity all over the world.

Show Your True Stripes

November 9, 2010

Silk Striped Blouse – vintage Ralph Lauren, Jacket – GAP, Pants – H&M, Bowler Hat – Urban Outfitters, Shoes – Banana Republic, Bracelet – Shopthelook.net

Stripes are by far one of my favorite patterns to wear because they go with just about anything. This striped top stood out to me while vintage shopping one day because its lines were big and bold, which was exactly what I was looking for. And it was silk, and you know how much I love silk. Sorry for the picture overload . . . it was hard for me to narrow them down because there were too many shots that I thought captured my mood perfectly. I felt so good wearing this outfit and I think it shows! I will be wearing stripes all season every season, you can be sure about that! And I’m getting back into hats and head wear again. I dug this bowler hat out of the back of my closet and felt that it really added personality to everything in my closet. So on it went! I have a chic black turban on its way to me, and I can’t wait to give it a go once it arrives in the post!

Don’t forget to enter the Dixi Shop giveaway below! And make sure to become a fan of my blog’s new official Facebook page to get extra updates and fun stuff like that. I will be involved in a special Facebook project with Tilly Boutique that starts later this month, and I would love all of you to be a part of it by liking Tilly Boutiques’s Facebook! I will tell you more about this project later!
