Me Singing a Cover of “I Want To Hold Your Hand”

November 17, 2010

This video was taken a lazy day last week when I had the time to actually sit down and record something. I always look so awkward in videos. Thank goodness this blog is not just a video blog (cringe). I took a few takes of me singing a cover of one of my all-time favorite songs “I Want To Hold Your Hand” by The Beatles, but I did the slower version as sung by T.V. Carpio in Across The Universe (one of all-time favorite movies!). This was the last take and I am not sure it’s exactly perfect, but I was too tired to do it again, so that’s that. Just now did I realize that instead of saying, “I want to hold your hand” like the original song is written, I am saying, “Now let me hold your hand.” I hope you don’t mind. It just came out that way. Anyways, enjoy, and hopefully there will be more to come! Also, I really need to learn how to work my camcorder because the old little camera I used to shoot this video kind of sucks! Anyways, I am wearing my MINKPINK Basket Case Jumper again from Tilly Boutique again. I can’t get enough of this piece.

All Woven Up

November 15, 2010

Sweater – MINKPINK from Tilly Boutique, Maxi Skirt – H&M, Tank – Free People, Boots – Cole Haan, Purse – Melie Bianco, Headband – Forever 21

I like how I kind of feel like a modern day princess or real life fairy in this rhinestone headband. I don’t usually wear too many things that sparkle under the sun, but I was drawn to this one for no particular reason other than the sign it held up yelling at me, “I’m pretty and shiny, so buy me now!” It does a wonderful job of softening the utilitarian nature of my black as night maxi skirt and stomp-the-ground combats. I like to wear different things that balance each other out; things that pull in two separate directions but bounce right back to middle ground in the end. That’s just me. I am wearing my new MINKPINK Basket Case Jumper from Tilly Boutique which I have been wearing for days on end. I can’t get enough of it. It shows off a more eclectic side of our everyday basics. The woven design is definitely not something you usually see on a simple sweatshirt. That’s why I love it.

Oh, and the winner of the Shop Dixi giveaway is Vivian from Diamonds and Tulle! Congrats Vivian!!!!

Oh So Pretty

Somethings just don’t need a reason for existence other than for the pleasure of our eyes.

Have a beautiful weekend 🙂

A Little Bit More Mustard, Please

November 11, 2010

Wool Blazer – vintage, Lace Tank – Forever 21, Jeans – J Brand, Purse – Melie Bianco, Silk Scarf – vintage, Shoes – from Crossroads
Usually the color yellow makes me feel nauseous, but give me a shot of deep mustard and it’s as if yellow has been my BFF the whole time. I think I started going gaga for mustard yellow ever since I spotted Kirsten Dunst in her mustard over the knee socks a few years ago. Too freaking cool. There is just something so retro about mustard yellow. I don’t know what it is, but it reminds me of the 70’s. The seventies totally rocked. As if the mustard yellow wasn’t enough, I just had to add an extra blast of color with my red Melie Bianco purse decorated with a vintage silk scarf I found lying around. Oh, yes, the jeans. And the holes. Let’s just say these are really old and yes I have worn them A LOT. The holes definitely make the jeans.
And Happy Veterans Day! May we all look forward to peace and prosperity all over the world.
