For the past two years, I’ve started paying attention to Korean beauty more and more. Dr. Jart was one of the first Korean beauty brands that went mainstream and was widely available in the United States. All of a sudden, I saw it everywhere . . . in magazines, my favorite bloggers were testing out new products and even the news channels were talking about the innovations and technology behind the industry of Korean beauty. After a visit to Seoul, Korea, I really came to see with my own eyes the importance of skincare and innovation in the life of a modern day Korean.Men as well as women! It’s so intriguing to me how technology can play such a substantial role in how we take care of our skin. It’s like engineering, but for the beauty realm. I’ve tried a few in the past year, and came to roundup a few of my favorite Korean beauty products for this post. For me, technology and science is just as important as making sure ingredients are mostly all natural and non-toxic. Let me take you through each of my current favorites.
Frudia Green Grape Pore Control Serum
Frudia is a brand new player in the Korean beauty market, and is now widely available in the US in most CVS pharmacies in the curated K-beauty section. It is made up of 81% green-grape extract from grapes that were harvested from a farm on Jegu Island, Korea, an area of lush vegetation. Frudia uses special technology to extract the extracts so that they are in the best, most refined form so that our skin take in all the best benefits from it. Skin moistening tannoids visibly mattify pores. After two weeks of use, I did very much see an increase in my skin’s brightness, as well. I noticed that my need for a face powder to mattify throughout the day went down, which was the main goal for me to get out of this product. Check out their other range of products, each suitable for a specific skincare target.
Saturday Skin Sunscreen Perfecting Cushion Compact
I just recently fell in love with this lightweight foundation compact. It contains a patented complex of peptides plus honey, which hydrates, cools and brightens skin. I dab it on my forehead, nose, cheeks and chin, then dab with the cushion to blend seamlessly all over. It provides full coverage, but doesn’t look or feel heavy at all. It feels more like a tinted moisturizer, which I love. The more natural looking the better. Plus it protects from sun exposure 🙂
Saturday Skin Daily Dew Hydrating Essence Mist
This mixture of toner and essence is my favorite midday refresher. Actually, I use it all throughout my day! It is formulated with kiwi and white grape extract to help block free radicals and increase moisture. Instantly, my skin looks radiant and perfectly dewy after a few sprays. Love using it over my makeup right before I head out the door.
Dr. Jart Dermaclear Micro Water
This cleansing water is made with 85% active hydrogen mineral water instead of refined water, and is formulated with 90% natural ingredients. I love knowing that what I use to clean my face is all natural, especially since I use it near my eyes. The best thing is that it takes off my mascara in an easy instant. I get clean, fresh feeling and brightened. I’ve noticed the redness in my skin (especially around my nose and chin) to have gone down since using this product.
Erborian Bamboo Water Lock Mask
I got this in a goody bag awhile back, and kept coming back to this product ever since for my moisture recharges. It’s made out of bamboo sap and fibers to help smooth, hydrate and plump with water. I use this mask at night after I wash my face. If my face feels extra dry, I’ll apply a good layer all over my face. Almost instantaneously I feel it working. My skin’s parched nature disappears just like that. Bamboo sap has amino acids, proteins and lipids . . . all things our dehydrated skin needs.
I hope these reviews of my top 5 favorite Korean beauty products help you navigate this new world of advanced skincare and beauty. It’s been super fun trying new products out, and pinpointing down the ones that work the best for me. Give some of these a try. I’m sure that you won’t be disappointed. And maybe you’ll be like me and go crazy on the Internet research behind the technology behind these products. it’s really fascinating. And my skin has never looked better 🙂
