Holidays Are Here

December 5, 2020

I keep catching myself surprised with the way that time is flying and that the holidays are already here. This has been one of the most difficult years emotionally, and there is still so much growing to do. Looking back on the last few months, it all seems like such a blur. How did we do it? Well, we did it, and we are different in many ways because of it, even if we can’t exactly lay a finger on what they are exactly. I’m going to embrace these last two months of the year with a level head and a strong, understanding heart, and keep holding myself accountable to be better where I need to be. Closing off this year isn’t going to be easy, but with everything we are working towards and allowing all the love that we have to thrive, it is going to be worth it. I feel very holiday-esque already with these metallics I pulled out for a shoot I recently did. Why not just go for it.

Sustainable Pieces of Choice

October 18, 2020

These are the jewelry pieces from the Monica Vinader x Doina collection I have been wearing just about everyday. This collection is made from 100% recycled silver and vermeil. How wonderful is that? These earrings are by Loveness Lee and they give me such an organic feeling energy every time I put them on. Not to mention, this leather corset by Nineh has been a longtime favorite of mine. It is made from vegetable tanned / chromium-free leather. These are the pieces I’ll be keeping in rotation for a lifetime. I’m all into supporting the brands who really focus on the craft of their art, and take sustainability into account with their work.

Up Close and Personal

October 18, 2020

I started reading a lot in Brazil and finished The Vegetarian by Han Kang and now I’m going to start Those Who Leave and Those Who Stay by Elena Ferrante, the third in a series. I feel like I gained back focus with this last read that left me questioning so much about mental health and the cultural differences in approaching it specifically amongst women. This was a focus that was lost to too much screen time. Getting back to my old reading rituals is one part of my wellness goal for the days to come. Every time I take something a away from a book I’m reading, I find somehow to learn something more about myself and my own view on the world. That’s my favorite thing about getting lost in a story. It’s seeing bits of myself reflected in it. It’s like taking little steps towards being more and more up close and personal with myself.
