Miu Miu

April 7, 2021

Cooped up inside on these rainy days have me in some sort of mood that is reflected in these self portraits shot on my @leicacamerausa SL2. I’m wearing all secondhand @miumiu. A little reminder to rewear what’s in your closet forever.

Dylana in Wonderland

April 7, 2021

For some reason, these set of images came out very Dylana in Wonderland, which some of you remember was one of my very first blog names years ago (before of after Color Me Nana, I can’t remember), and it is still my Gmail. It’s no joke how much the imagination really played such a role in this process of self discovery, and still today. It drives so much of what we do I believe. Let’s keep creating because of it.

Self Portrait: Pink and Red

March 7, 2021

Accessories from Rebag.com

All my favorite things in one outfit. The concept of dressing for oneself is so liberating. To me, dressing for myself means fueling my looks with inspiring color combinations and fun plays on proportions. It brings me joy to know that these pieces have found a new home with room for new stories to tell.

Self Portrait: Lunar New Year

March 7, 2021

ASOS Men’s suit

Happy Lunar New Year! I remember how disappointed I was last year when the Lunar New Year parade was cancelled in Chinatown; before our lives fully changed. This year it feels really important to me to not let go of certain traditions that my sister and I were raised with thanks to our Chinese mom. I have very vivid memories of Chinatown as a child during the parade, dressed in not brand new clothing, but our best dresses, and I was always very frightened of yet intrigued by the dragons doing the Dragon Dance. The way the drum beat heavy in me still stays with me today, but I remember feeling better after receiving a red packet of money to buy Snap Pops with and a red bean bun right afterwards. We won’t be fully reuniting with family as tradition this year, but my sister and I will be cooking Chinese food at home and being grateful for this time together and for our health. To me, that’s the best sort of luck.
